You'll join our local Compliance team and collectively provide an essential service by advising and monitoring the business activities, to enable Equiom to comply with the relevant laws, regulations and codes of practice applicable to its business licence(s).
You will collaborate with the business to support them in identifying and managing their risk exposure by using the systems and controls in place are managed effectively in order to protect Equiom from both internal and external risk factors, whilst encouraging a culture of compliance and ethical standards.
You'll be part of a culture which fosters engaged and positive people to ensure the team works in an effective and well-motivated manner, maintaining a good level of team spirit and employee morale.
Your New Role
This list of duties is not exhaustive and may change from time to time according to business needs:
- Assist with drafting and implementing AML/CFT and regulatory compliance policies and procedures
- Completion of compliance monitoring programme (CMP), in accordance with the CMP policies and procedures
- Assist in preparing reports for quarterly board meetings
- Assist with screening reports regarding Sanctions updates and adverse media reports received from the firm’s screening solution and GFSC’s Public Statements
- Keep abreast of local and relevant international laws and regulations particularly Anti Money-Laundering/Countering the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT)
- Support with maintaining key registers including regulatory correspondence with the GFSC and other regulatory authorities where necessary
- Support employees in respect of compliance and AML/CFT matters
- Support regulatory/banking relations/auditors and similar visits or inspections
- Maintain accurate records relating to the compliance function as appropriate
- Carry out additional compliance tasks as required from time to time
What will you need to succeed in this role?
As to be expected, we are searching for someone who can bring a range of skills and experiences to enhance the team. As such, there are a few essential skills we are looking for:
- Good level of experience of working in Compliance & Risk
- Experience of working in a regulatory environment
- Corporate/Trust industry experience (desirable)
- Good understanding of the Guernsey Regulatory Framework and AML / CFT Statutory Legislation
- Proficient in client structures e.g. corporates, trusts, foundations and the associated due diligence requirements (desirable)
- An understanding of high-risk features such as PEPs, sanctions, sensitive business activities, material jurisdictional connections
