Equiom Group acts in a management capacity (trustee, director, council etc) to multiple entities and structures globally, and as such, has obligations under relevant legislation to assist the Client Services teams with the provision of AEOI (FATCA & CRS), ROE and TRS reporting and this is managed centrally through our dedicated International Reporting Obligations Team.
As a Senior Associate you will be part of the International Reporting Obligations Team, ensuring that we adhere to our regulatory obligations in line with global AEOI legislation and you will provide support and guidance to our global offices.
Your New Role
This list of duties is not exhaustive and may change from time to time according to business needs:
- Reporting to the Head of International Reporting Obligations
- Ensure Equiom Group’s adherence to global OECD, IRS, and jurisdictional due diligence obligations in accordance with legislative requirements for AEOI purposes including:
- Liaising with the Client Service teams across the Group to ensure that:
- All employees have a knowledge and high-level understanding of Equiom’s due diligence obligations and the associated requirements
- All employees are aware of updates to legislation in the jurisdictions which impact their clients
- Provide guidance to the Client Service teams in relation to forms received from external parties regarding their own due diligence obligations
- Take responsibility for the oversight of the annual report submissions to the tax authority, including ensuring that prior year submissions have been remediated
- Ensure Equiom’s adherence to its due diligence obligations in accordance with legislative requirements and updates in relation to the UK Companies House Register of Overseas Entities (ROE) legislation (impacting England, Ireland Scotland & Wales), including:
- All employees have a knowledge and high-level understanding of Equiom’s due diligence obligations and the associated requirements
- All employees are aware of updates to legislation in the jurisdictions which impact their clients;
- Validation of AML documentation for all clients
- Work with the Head of International Reporting Obligations to roll out a due diligence programme for the UK Trust Registration Service (TRS)
- Work with the Senior Operations Manager – Systems and Reporting, in relation to data remediation across all IRO information exchanges
- Review, completion and submission (where required) of annual IRS COPA and Periodic Certifications
- Work with client services in relation to AEOI specific trigger events, including ensuring that all employees are aware of what triggers are and the requirements where a trigger event occurs ensure that these are captured at the point of the trigger
- Assist the Client Service teams with the annual AEOI reporting process to ensure that they have met the reporting requirements within deadline(s), to all known reportable jurisdictions for that office
- Identify, communicate, and mitigate incidence of penalties for all IRO’s
- Additional work may include;
- Registrations for all IRO’s on behalf of managed clients;
- Assisting the Client Service teams with AEOI reporting; and
- Identification of data quality errors, recommendations for reconciliation exercises, and / or notifying the relevant department

What will you need to succeed in this role?
As to be expected, we are searching for someone who can bring a range of skills and experiences to enhance the team. As such, there are a few essential skills we are looking for:
- Experience of AEOI Global reporting mechanisms across the Crown Dependencies
- Experience of remediation of:
- Self-certifications
- Due diligence across information exchange mechanisms including
- AEOI
- ROE; and
- TRS
- Experience of working in an environment where there are tight deadlines and narrow timeframes
- Experience of working with NAV (desirable)
Knowledge of trusts and companies and the roles within them (e.g. trustee, beneficiary, directors, shareholders) (desirable)
Personal attributes which would be seen in the ideal applicant include;
- This is a substantial exercise with narrow timeframes – strong organisational skills and ability to manage own workload are essential
- The area of the business involves a large range of stakeholders at all levels –good communication skills will be required
- The ability to integrate into and work as part of a small team will be necessary.
