You'll lead a team to monitor compliance with Jersey legislation, relating to money laundering, the financing of terrorism, the financing of proliferation and AML/CFT/CPF Codes of Practice issued under the Supervisory Bodies Law.
Your New Role
This list of duties is not exhaustive and may change from time to time according to business needs:
Compliance with the all relevant Jersey legislation (Financial Services and Anti-money laundering /Countering the Financing of Terrorism (CFT))
- The point of contact with the Jersey Financial Services Commission (JFSC)
- JFSC approved as a KEY PERSON to undertake the role
- Act as the appointed Compliance Officer for the Jersey business
- Act as the appointed MLCO for the Jersey business
- Act as the Deputy MLRO for the Jersey business
- Provide coaching and guidance to junior members of the team
- Implement and maintain internal controls, policies and procedures pertaining to the compliance function
- Maintain the compliance monitoring programme (‘CMP’) to ensure all relevant risks are reviewed and stay in line with regulatory requirements and developments
- Review all CMP reviews undertaken to ensure that they have been completed in line with procedures and identify any issues arising that may need urgent reporting to senior management
- Ad hoc training, coaching and guidance to employees
- As required, provide support to Group Risk Management with regard to the Jersey Risk Committee
- Attend Business Acceptance Committee meetings
- Liaise with external auditors for compliance related issues
- Submit annual regulatory licence renewal information
- Undertake specific compliance monitoring tasks where a higher level of understanding required
- Undertake annual appraisals and setting objective target for direct reports
- Prepare monthly compliance board reports and associated papers for circulation prior to board meetings
- Attend board meetings to discuss/answer queries’ arising from the monthly compliance board report
- Ensure all compliance related registers are kept up to date and issues raised are monitored, followed up/dealt with accordingly
- Perform such other duties as may be reasonably requested by the Managing Director of Equiom (Jersey) Limited and/or Group Compliance and Risk
Project Work
- Participate in various projects including, providing strategic guidance, research, devising policies and procedures Management of Compliance Team
Supervision and Motivation of Team
- Workload allocation
- Checking and approval of the team’s output
- Objective setting and performance appraisal
- Coaching and assisting with the development and training of the team
- Ensure compliance with company standards, policies and procedures
What will you need to succeed in this role?
As to be expected, we are searching for someone who can bring a range of skills and experiences to enhance the team. As such, there are a few essential skills we are looking for:
- A number of years’ previous experience in a similar role
- Relevant industry qualification(s); at least one of the below
- ICA AML Diploma
- ICA Compliance Diploma
- ICSA Diploma
- STEP
- A thorough understanding of Jersey Financial Services legislation, in particular the Financial Services Jersey Law, subordinate legislation, Codes of Practice for Trust Company Business Proceeds of Crime Law, the Money Laundering Order and the AML Handbook
- Approved as a Key Person as defined by Article 1 of the Financial Services (Jersey) Law 1998
