This role will spearhead the collection strategy and manage the company’s debtor ledger, ensuring the timely collection of outstanding invoices and limiting bad debt, while maintaining positive relationships with customers. This role is crucial in optimising cash flow and minimising credit risk by regularly monitoring overdue accounts, proactively contacting clients for payment, maintaining accurate records of all collection activities, preparing regular reports for management, ensuring compliance with company policies and relevant regulations, and building strong customer relationships to facilitate smooth payment processes
Your New Role
This list of duties is not exhaustive and may change from time to time according to business needs:
Driving the timely collection of payments:
●Monitor clients' accounts to ensure timely payment of outstanding debts.
●Proactively contact clients to discuss overdue payments and negotiate payment plans as necessary.
Engage with the accounts receivable team:
●Ensure reconciliation of clients’ accounts to resolve any invoice or payment discrepancies.
●Collaborate with the accounts receivable team to address any issues promptly.
Maintain accurate records:
●Keep detailed records of all collection activities, including communications with clients and payment agreements.
●Prepare regular reports for management on collection activities, outstanding debts, and payment trends.
Collaborate with client services teams:
●Address billing issues or payment delays with the client and billing team.
●Build and maintain positive relationships with clients to facilitate smooth payment processes and address any payment-related issues.
Ensure compliance:
●Adhere to company credit policies and relevant legal requirements.
●Ensure all collection activities comply with company policies and relevant regulations.
●Initiate interest charges on overdue accounts and implement suspension of services as per company policy.
Recommend accounts for escalation:
●Identify accounts for escalation to MD/CFO, legal or third-party collections when necessary.
Assist in month-end reporting:
●Contribute to month-end reporting related to debtors provisioning and cash flow forecasts.
●Prepare regular reports on collection activities, outstanding debts, and payment trends for management review.
Drive continuous improvement:
●Identify areas of risk and examine discrepancies to improve reporting and practices
What will you need to succeed in this role?
As to be expected, we are searching for someone who can bring a range of skills and experiences to enhance the team. As such, there are a few essential skills we are looking for:
●Relevant finance, business administration, accounting qualification, or a related field.
●Strong communication skills, with the ability to present information both qualitatively and quantitatively to support business decisions.
●Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel
●Proven experience of working in a similar role.
Desirable
●Data analytics skills
●Awareness of relevant accounting standards for debtors provisioning(IFRS 9/ECL provisioning methodology)
