Equiom is looking for an experienced and commercially driven Executive Director, Indirect Tax to lead and grow our Indirect Tax service line, encompassing VAT, Customs & Excise services.

This role provides strategic and operational leadership for the Indirect Tax function, with responsibility for driving revenue growth, developing client relationships and ensuring the highest standards of technical excellence and compliance delivery.

The successful candidate will lead a team of specialists, develop the service offering and play a key role in strengthening Equiom’s position in the market. The role also includes participation on the Local Board, contributing to governance and strategic discussions for the jurisdiction.

Key Responsibilities

Service Line Leadership & Growth

• Define and deliver the strategic business plan for the Indirect Tax service line, aligned with jurisdictional and Group objectives

• Drive revenue growth and profitability across the VAT, Customs & Excise portfolio

• Identify and convert new business opportunities through client engagement, intermediary relationships and cross service collaboration

• Work closely with colleagues across Corporate Services, Private Wealth and other service lines to deliver integrated client solutions

• Represent Equiom at industry events and client engagements to strengthen market presence and develop strategic relationships

• Monitor financial performance of the service line, ensuring sustainable and profitable growth

Team Leadership

• Provide strong leadership to the Indirect Tax team, fostering a culture of technical excellence, collaboration and accountability

• Mentor and develop senior managers and technical specialists, supporting capability growth and succession planning

• Promote a risk aware and compliance led culture across the service line

• Encourage collaboration across jurisdictions and service lines to ensure a consistent and high quality client experience

Technical Oversight & Service Delivery

• Maintain oversight of complex and high value indirect tax advisory engagements, ensuring technically robust and commercially sound advice

• Ensure the timely and accurate delivery of VAT, Customs & Excise compliance services

• Maintain strong governance, quality assurance and risk management processes across all engagements

• Act as a senior escalation point for complex technical issues, regulatory enquiries or sensitive client matters

• Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and ensure services remain aligned with applicable requirements

• Ensure compliance with AML/KYC requirements, client acceptance standards and internal governance procedures

Governance

• Participate as a member of the Local Board, contributing to discussions relating to strategy, risk oversight and performance

• Support strong governance and regulatory compliance across the jurisdiction

  About You

  Essential Experience

  • Significant senior experience in indirect tax (VAT, Customs & Excise) within a professional services or regulated environment

  • Proven track record of leading and growing an indirect tax or advisory service line

  • Strong commercial experience including revenue generation, client relationship development and pricing strategy

  • Extensive experience managing complex cross border indirect tax matters

  • Experience leading and developing high performing specialist tax teams

  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills with clients, intermediaries and senior leadership

  • Professional qualification such as CTA, ACA, ACCA or equivalent

  Desirable

• Experience within a regulated financial services, fiduciary or corporate services environment

• Multi-jurisdictional indirect tax experience

• Previous exposure to Board or senior governance environments.

• Established professional network within indirect tax or financial services sectors.
